Holme Court is a small school created for children with dyslexia and associated learning needs. Our family atmosphere and nurturing environment can, however, also enable some children for whom, until now, school has represented failure, who lack confidence and self-esteem, or who have experienced bullying, to thrive. The school does not cater for learners with primary behavioural issues where their behaviour or attitude might disrupt the education or welfare of others at the school. The school is appropriate for learners with SEN statements/ EHC Plans, as well as non-statemented children, privately or Local Authority funded, with each application being considered individually.
Admission is usually dependent on receipt of an Educational Psychologist or Specialist Teacher report confirming presence of severe dyslexia and/ or associated difficulties. We would also consider applications where there is evidence of low attainment in literacy and can arrange for one of our Specialist Teachers to assess if required. After an initial interview with the parents or carers, at which their child’s needs can be discussed, potential pupils are invited for one or two Taster Days. This allows them to sample a typical day and helps the school gain an insight into their specific strengths and needs.
The school will consider each child on an individual basis and, following their Taster Days, will offer entry on condition that a suitable place is available for the child’s learning ability, age and emotional needs. Information from existing relevant and up-to-date assessments by recognised specialists such as Educational Psychologists, Paediatricians and Speech & Language therapists may also be used to make an informed decision. We can be flexible with regards to admission dates. Provided there is space in the class a child will be able to start immediately. We accept children from a wide catchment area, including Bedfordshire, Hertfordshire, Suffolk and Cambridgeshire.
Come and have a look around at a time that suits you. See the children in action and meet the teachers. You may wish to visit the school first and bring you child along at a later date or all come together – it is up to you.
This is a great opportunity for you to experience the wonderful culture and ethos of Holme Court School.

The next step we recommend is to book a trial day/s for your child.
We believe it is extremely important for your child to experience life at Holme Court School. This ensures that they also feel we are the right fit for them.
This also provides an opportunity for your child to experience working in an environment designed to cater for their needs.
Once you and your child have decided that Holme Court School is the school for them, we will begin to process all the paperwork required.
Upon completion of this, we will then be in a position to consider an offer of a place at Holme Court School.
This process can vary in time depending on the number of parties involved. (Local Authorities etc.)
Providing the offer of a place is accepted, we will then begin to arrange an agreed start date.
This can be flexible, as we understand that moving educational settings can a stressful process.
We endeavour to ensure this process is handled as smoothly a possible for both you and your child.
